The Treasure Coast Model Railroad Club and Historical Society is a Not for
Profit Corporation dedicated to the modeling, study and preservation of
railroads of the past 150 years. The members are drawn together by their
interest in the history, operation and modeling of the nations railroads
in miniature.
The members have designed and built the current layout over a period of
years. It features over 750 feet of track arranged to replicate a busy
mainline, a secondary line and branchline running. The scenery represents
city and country settings. The city features multi storied buildings and
major industrial centers while the country scenes show small town or
logging areas.
Recent additions to the layout include the installation of a Digitrax
Digital Command Control System (DCC). Many of the
members have model locomotives that also feature a DCC sound decoder.
These Sound decoders produce the sounds of the diesel engine or steam
locomotive including bells, whistles, horns, hissing and an array of other
sounds.
Future plans being considered include rearranging trackage to allow for
the switching of passenger cars, signaling and interlocking to regulate
the movement of trains and general scenic improvements. Changes to the
current layout are driven by the interests of the individual members.
Interests include scenery, operation, signaling, modeling industrial
centers and prototypical operation.
Current ongoing projects include the installation of a Steel Mill and
rebuilding one of the cities on the layout. Recent additions include an
Intermodal Yard to transfer shipping containers from specially
equipped rail cars to trucks equipped to move the containers to
individual shippers.
